It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Sharing Picture Books, Early Readers, Middle Grade Books, and Young Adult Books for All Ages!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly blog hop co-hosted by Unleashing Readers and Teach Mentor Texts which focuses on sharing books marketed for children and young adults. It offers opportunities to share and recommend books with each other.

The original IMWAYR, with an adult literature focus, was started by Sheila at Book Journeys and is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

We encourage you to write your own post sharing what you’re reading, link up below, leave a comment, and support other IMWAYR bloggers by visiting and commenting on at least three of the other linked blogs.

Sunday we celebrated Easter and the day got away from me, so I’m sorry to miss out on today’s IMWAYR. I’ll update next week!

Happy reading this week! 🎉

I finished reading Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram. I really loved this book and am glad that it has been used in so many classrooms. It offers a complex view of mental health, and I find myself pausing in the day, remembering the text, and pondering aspects of it. I suspect most readers have gotten to this one, but if you haven’t (it was published in 2018), I recommend it highly.

  1. Loved Sporting Chance and will look forward to your post. Don’t you hate it when real life gets in the way of the blog? Glad you both have some books that you have enjoyed.

  2. I’m so glad you loved Darius the Great is Not Okay. It is such a quiet yet impactful book. I haven’t read Furia yet but I loved Mendez’s picture book Where Are you From (which is only $1.99 on Kindle right now).

  3. I hope you both had a happy Easter! I still haven’t read Darius the Great is Not Okay, and it sounds like one I need to pick up. I’ve also seen a lot about Furia but haven’t read it—I must be pretty behind on my YA reading! Thank you both for the great post and round-up!

  4. Darius the Great is Not Okay is on my list. Thanks for the reminder about it. I tried to get into Furia twice, but it just didn’t work for me. It added to my already existing covid anxiety. I hope to get back to it some day.
