It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Sharing Picture Books, Early Readers, Middle Grade Books, and Young Adult Books for All Ages!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly blog hop co-hosted by Unleashing Readers and Teach Mentor Texts which focuses on sharing books marketed for children and young adults. It offers opportunities to share and recommend books with each other.

The original IMWAYR, with an adult literature focus, was started by Sheila at Book Journeys and is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

We encourage you to write your own post sharing what you’re reading, link up below, leave a comment, and support other IMWAYR bloggers by visiting and commenting on at least three of the other linked blogs.

Happy reading!

I’ve begun to do my long IMWAYR updates every two weeks, so I will do an update next week. But as always, to see what books I’ve been reading, check out my 2022 Goodreads Challenge page  or my read bookshelf on Goodreads.

A student lent me a copy of Dare to Disappoint: Growing Up in Turkey by Özge Samanci. The mixed media within this book is absolutely captivating. I was really impressed with it and plan to use it with my classes to examine the ways in which narratives are told graphically and nontraditionally. It is a phenomenal text.

I’ve read the prose version of Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera, so I was really excited to read the graphic novel version with Celia Moscote. I was not disappointed. Juliet’s story is beautifully captured in this graphic version. For me, this book is almost a love letter to readers—to be proud of themselves and believe in themselves. I love this story so much and will read it again and again.

I am reading All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir. I am captivated. This one has won a lot of stars, and I can already see what the buzz is about!
