It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA!

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme started by Sheila at Book Journeys and now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It’s also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…you just might discover the next “must-read” book!

Kellee and Jen, of Teach Mentor Texts, decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join us! We love this meme and think you will, too.

We encourage everyone who participates to support the blogging community by visiting at least three of the other book bloggers that link up and leave comments for them.

Ricki is currently away on maternity leave! She has lined up reviews for the time she is away. While spending time with the newest member of her family, she is also working hard on completing her dissertation and is trying to focus her time accordingly. Ricki is looking forward to returning to share books with you all! Happy reading!

 Last Week’s Journeys

Well….. to make up for my really productive reading week last week, I did not finish anything this week. My Chicago Cubs are in the post season, and that is really hurting my reading time because I just cannot do both…

This Week’s Expeditions

I am currently reading two historical fiction books that are totally engrossing though!

I only have 1 hour left of Echo, and it is killing me that I cannot just finish it! It is so good everyone! If you haven’t read it, fix that and get the audio!

Cloud and Wallfish is about an American living behind the Iron Curtain in East Berlin, and it is so interesting to be learning about Berlin during this time period.

  1. Crystal says:

I should get the audio of Echo. I enjoyed reading the actual text, but I’ve heard that the audio is wonderful.

    • Kellee says:

The audio is perfect! The inclusion of the music just adds an element that the written word solely would not have. I highly recommend it!

  2. Jane says:

Can I just say how impressed I am that you have an entire week’s worth of posts already written and scheduled?!? I wish I could be that organized….!!!

  3. Ms. Yingling says:

I have Cloud and Wallfish up next on my TBR. Echo hasn’t appealed to my students, although all of the teachers and librarians I know adored it!

    • Kellee says:

That is surprising to me! It is on our state list, and everyone that is reading it says it is one of the best books they’ve ever read.

  4. Really enjoyed checking out the guide you wrote for Klassen’s hat books. WOW!! Enjoy reading Echo. A fantastic book!

  5. 15andmeowing says:

    The zucchini book looks adorable.

  6. Linda Baie says:

Hopefully someday I can listen to Echo. I have read it, but so many have said how wonderful it is to hear the music, too. Have a great week, and good luck with your Cubs!

  7. Did Ricki have the baby?? Girl or boy?

I am SO glad you are loving Echo on audio! Isn’t it wonderful? You will love the ending 🙂

Have a great week & enjoy your books –

  8. P.S. Can’t wait to see the Top 10 Tuesday post – what a great topic!!

  9. Love Andrea Beaty’s books so I’m looking forward to the teaching guide. She was here a few weeks ago and she read Ada to the kids. I love hearing the author read their own work!

  10. I agree Echo as an audio was fabulous. One of the best audiobooks ever! I’ve got Cloud and Wallfish on my ipad. I planned to read it this weekend but forgot my device when my partner and I went away.
    Congratulations to Ricki!

  11. Beth Shaum says:

I need to read Cloud and Wallfish ASAP! Berlin is my favorite city on earth so yeah, I kind of need to read that one sooner rather than later.

    Congrats to Ricki!
