It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
For readers of all ages
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly blog hop we host which focuses on sharing what we’re reading. This Kid Lit version of IMWAYR focuses primarily on books marketed for kids and teens, but books for readers of all ages are shared. We love this community and how it offers opportunities to share and recommend books with each other.
The original IMWAYR, with an adult literature focus, was started by Sheila at Book Journeys and is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. The Kid Lit IMWAYR was co-created by Kellee & Jen at Teach Mentor Texts.
We encourage you to write your own post sharing what you’re reading, link up below, leave a comment, and support other IMWAYR bloggers by visiting and commenting on at least three of the other linked blogs.
Happy reading!

Young Adult

I absolutely loved All the Noise at Once by Deandra Davis. I listened to it and then had my entire family listen to it. This book has strong appeal to adolescents with varied interests because of the content it covers. Beyond mature language, it doesn’t include any content that felt inappropriate for my youngest son, either, so even my 7-year-old listened to it. It’s definitely a YA book, but all three of my sons (and my partner) loved it. There are so many good life lessons for readers of all ages.

I really appreciate Andrew Joseph White’s books, and I really liked The Spirit Bares Its Teeth. I must admit that the grotesque content isn’t typically my thing, but the writing is stunning. White has a true talent for creating complex, thought-provoking novels.
Adult

Ever since I read Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green, I’ve been sliding facts about tuberculosis into conversations. I really, really liked this book.

I probably should have read Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler a long time ago, but I never got to it. I was so happy to see it on one of the current lists for the GoodReads reading challenges. What a phenomenal book! Now I understand why it is so widely taught!
Adult Romance

It wouldn’t be an update if I didn’t share a romance book! I really enjoyed Emily Giffin’s Love You More which is about reconnecting with first loves and the realities of growing apart from childhood connections.
You can learn more about what I’ve been reading on my read bookshelf on Goodreads.
