Must Read in 2016 #mustreadin2016

#MustReadIn2016 is hosted by Carrie Gelson at There Is A Book For That:

“For anyone out there with a To Be Read list that seems like it will never end, this challenge is for you! This is all about making your own personal list of books (5? 10? 20? 30? more?) that you commit to reading in 2016. Books can be published in any year, be from any genre, and be from any category (adult, YA, MG, Graphics, NF, etc.).  As your TBR list grows, you promise you will get to the books on this list.”

These are our hopeful lists. Many are books we’ve been wanting to read for a long time, while others are books we just really want to read as of right now (January 2016), and lastly, some are books we really need to read because we’ve promised someone (or each other). Primarily, we included young adult and middle grade books because they are what we are going to try to read more of this year. As Carrie said, we will absolutely be reading many books not on this list! And don’t worry, we will still be reading the latest and greatest picture books to our boys.

Now without further adieu:

  1. So many great titles – my TBR list continues to grow!I really loved The Honest Truth so it is wonderful to see it on both of your lists! Right now I am reading More Happy Than Not Kellee – we will have to compare notes. Ricki, make sure you have tissues handy when you read See You at Harry’s. Such a book!

  2. Ricki – tell me when you read See You at Harry’s or the new Patrick Ness. I’ll try to read it at the same time! May I suggest you start with All American Boys? Amazing!!!
Kellee – Did you see Hook’s Revenge made it on mine? That would be your influence! I’m hoping to get to George in the next month or so. So many good books here, but I do think you should start with All American Boys with Ricki 🙂
    Happy 2016, ladies!

  3. Oh wow, I’m now keeping a 2nd list of books I don’t want to forget from all of these lists posted today. Both of you have great lists, ones I’ve loved (See You At Harry’s & Gracefully Grayson) to those I still haven’t managed to read, yet! Thanks, looking forward to the new year seeing what you both have to say about new books and old!

  4. Really great lists! A few of them (Everything, Everything, The Game of Love and Death, The Marvels, Enchanted Air, All American Boys) I have checked out now, but have not yet read, but, of course, I think they sound so good! Of the others listed, I particularly love This Dark Endeavor and The Nest, and can’t wait til you read them!

  5. Wow! These are really great books. I’ve got some of the same books on my list. I like Michelle’s idea about reading a book at the same time. I’m sure there is some kind of algebraic formula to figure out what book most people have on their lists… Carrie is right about See You at Harry’s. Kelle, I know have Hook’s revenge checked out!

  7. Between the two of you, I see at least ten books that I loved. I can’t wait to hear what you think of them. I am also intrigued by a few – Black Like Me, The New Jim Crow and The Nest. I also have the new Patrick Ness book on my list. Have a great year!

  8. Great lists! I want to read them all! I just read Sunny Side Up in December, Ricki, and it was very good. We are reading The New Jim Crow for one of my book groups in March. I have heard great things about Grasshopper Jungle & Everything Everything, too.

Kellee, I recognize a few books from Ricki’s Best of 2015 list! (I know because I added a bunch of those from both of you to my own TBR list!). I just listened to George on audio – it was very good. I have The Marvels sitting here waiting patiently. And of course, I am dying to read Salt of the Sea!

Looks like you two will have a great reading year in 2016!
